Our Curriculum

Our book for Term 3 is Sam Wu is not afraid of the dark by Katie and Kevin Tsang. We will be learning to read with fluency and expression by 'echo reading' as a class. We will explore the characters, retrieve key details from the text and illustrations and write a summary of the book. We will also look at other text types with similar themes and make comparisons.

Promoting a love for reading...

Here are ways you can help to promote reading for pleasure:

Reading with your child for just 10 minutes a day can make an enormous difference to their enjoyment of reading

Sharing a variety of good quality texts together

Allowing time after reading to chat about the book

Visiting the library to choose new books

You can find good quality book recommendations here:

100 books for every year group - Peters

The Laugh Out Loud book awards

We will start with a 2 week unit on Formal Letters of Complaint.

Followed by a three week unit on third person narrative.
